Happy 700 Pageviews

It is the first day of October and I have seen a great gift here on my blog. I have reached 700 pageviews. What a nice figure to start the month.

I was not able to write anything on my blog in the last week of September. I was busy last month that I attended programs and other school- related businesses. The latest event I attended was Division Athletic Meet 2017 last September 27 to 29, 2017. I was busy on my task as a clerk. I also had my comprehensive exam yesterday. I had taxing tasks that made me to stay away from my laptop.

Thanks, God that I have this day to rest and to write. This month, I promise that I will be more devoted in writing stuff and happenings that affect me much. I will try my best to cater my personal views and experiences. I want my blog to show who I am. Anyways, I will enjoy what I have at this moment.

Happy 500 Pageviews

I'm back in the blogging world. I really want to write more posts for the past days but because of school duties, I need to delay the flow of my thoughts. The problem is I cannot fully remember what are my exact thoughts on some issues that have circulated for the whole week. I need to dig deep so that I can excavate the gold in my mind.

All I am doing this week is checking my blog statistics. I really want to see how the trend is going up daily. I am slowly realizing my blogging goals. Even that the figures are still minuet, I consider these as my triumphs.

I am glad to tell to my readers that my blog has reached 500 pageviews. I am now in the halfway going to four- digit blog statistics. I am applying what I have learned from my early blogging experiences. It is not bad to learn from mistakes. This helps me to do better things and not to repeat the same mistakes.

In my next blog, I am going to feature my trip to Manila. I hope that I can post it earlier.

My 10 Blogging Goals

For the past two years of my blogging, procrastination is my biggest enemy. It impedes me to have my progress. I lose my creative juices because of this. I regret of not posting things immediately. So, it affects my dream to be a well- known blogger. That's why, I created this post to remind of my goals. I will use this as a guidepost for me not to digress. Here are the following:

1. Reach 1,000 pageviews a month. I want my blog to have a wide readership. I do not want it to be dormant. There should be readers who will indulge on my articles. I want also my readers to crave for more after reading a post. I want also my readers to share my posts to their friends. I know it is a big goal but I need to impose this in order for my blog to catch attention.

2. Have three- digit pageview per post. As of now, my posts has been receiving one- two digit views. It is normal to have this minuet figures because I am still starting. I want that in the next months, my post will  register three- digit figures. With this target, my articles are getting the attention of readers.

3. Receive at least ten comments per post. As of now, my posts do not receive comments. Comments are good signs that people are affected what a writer created. I want my blog to receive comments either good or bad for me to feel that there are readers that pay attention on what they have read.

4. Reach 10,000 pageviews before the year ends. I want my blog to end the year in a high note. By receiving five- digit figure means a lot for me. It indicates that I have reached a good number of people's readership. It will be my tool to raise a bar for my online home.

5. Create at least two posts per day. One of the things that makes a blog to ring a bell is to have daily posting. I will do my best to write at least two posts per day. I want my readers to get fresh updates. I want them to enjoy my blog day by day. My posts will be lengthy and worth reading. I will also try my best to incorporates commentaries and reviews.

6. Have a blog post with 800- 1000 words. Some bloggers say that in order for a blog to capture more attention, lengthy post should be done. This goal will test my vocabulary, grammar, and mechanics in writing. I should create posts that are long but the thoughts are easily to be discerned and remembered. I want that my readers will not tedium as they peruse my writings.

7. Have my social media accounts grow. I am using social media sites to reach out audience. I have been receiving views from these online sites. With blogging, I want to grow my followers and readers. I want to know more people and I want them to feel at home on my blog.

8. I want my blog to have self- hosted domain. It is my goal to change the URL of my blog from carlwrites.blogspot.com to carlwrites.com. Having a self- hosted domain site, my blog will be more remembered and distinguished. Hoping that my finances will be okay. I will purchase this year.

9. I want my blog to earn revenue. I found that many people venture on blogging as source of living. Many also chose blogging as their job because of big revenues. I want also to experience that. I want to have a passive income for me to sustain my needs. It will help my finances because my salary is not enough. I want that my blog will have good numbers.

10. I want my blog to be recognized as a noteworthy one. I want my blog to be noticed in the online world. I want it to be identified as a must- read blog. It is nice to seeing a blog being featured in other sites. If there will be recognition, it will be considered as a bonus.

I know that these goals are humongous. But with determination, dedication, and faith, these will be realized. Join me in my journey as a blogger. Happy reading.

Happy 300 Pageviews

Japanese encephalitis: A Threat on Rainy Days

I was alarmed last Monday night when I heard a news about viral disease carried by mosquitoes. It was my first time to hear it and I had the hard time to spell that deadly disease. Japanese encephalitis has killed nine in the entire country from January 1 to August 26 this year. The data were given by Department of Health. Culex mosquitoes are responsible with this fatalities. For those like me who are not familiar with this, JE is present in the country since 1950s.

The news became a hot topic especially that rainy season is transpiring. For those who are worried, the vaccine for JE is available but the DOH does not recommend anyone to get a shot during this period. The vaccination should be done before rainy season according to DOH Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag in an interview on News To Go. He added that we should do precautionary measures to affect us.

According to the Health Department, JE symptoms are apparent six to eight days after mosquito bite. A person could have tiredness, headache, fever, chills, nausea and, vomiting. If this untreated, this would eventually put the person of having brain damage, paralysis, and even death.

Indeed, JE is a threat these rainy days. We should practice cleanliness and self- protection. We need should keep our body fit; clean and clear the areas that mosquitoes stay and breed; and we should pray that this disease will not be epidemic. Keep safe everyone.

Me During the #MunicipalMeet2K17

Eleven secondary schools of Anda, Pangasinan had their race towards championship in the recently held Municipal Athletic Elimination 2017 locally known as Municipal Meet 2017 last September 4 and 5. Our school is the year's host. We prepared for this big event. Last Sunday, I helped my fellow Senior High School teachers in decorating the stage. We used multi- colored fabrics in that place. I also swept the stairs of our SHS building. I was sneezing for the whole time. My rhinitis was triggered.

Yesterday, I served as the master of ceremony for the opening program. I have been serving as an emcee for two consecutive years. The quadrangle of our school was filled of different colors representing the schools. We wore pink shirts. I was amazed of the vigor and excitement of the athletes to play their respective games. I felt a little bit envious as well as regret because I never excelled in sports during my high school days. I devoted myself only in academics that I forgot to run in the track or play in the court.

Now that I am a teacher, I am imbibing to my learners to balance studies as well as other curricular activities. I want them to appreciate the value of sports in their lives.

Going back to the happenings during the opening program, the participants were in the game mode in exclaiming their various yells. They were creative on composing their battle cry for a short period of time. After few moments, the Meet was formally opened. As an emcee, my task was extended as the announcer of events and winners. A disadvantage of that is I just stay on the stage which giving me  few chances of watching the games. Thanks that the records team was with me. We had light conversations that drove away tiredness. I enjoyed watching volleyball matches. I stayed on the stage for almost eight hours.

I really wanted to walk in the ocean of grass in the school during the second day of the Meet, but I continued my task as an announcer. I became contented on watching the dashes and runs from afar. Luckily that the stage is facing the playground, I had the chance to witness some of the action- filled events in athletics. I became happy doing my job as our school zoomed to number two. I shouted the achievement of our school. I felt proud on the outstanding performance of our athletes.

For all the schools, congratulations. Let us help one another in making our town as the home of champions. See you next year.

Happy 200 Pageviews

It is a busy Sunday for me. After the divine service of our church, we went home promptly and ate lunch immediately. We need to go to church to attend the funeral service of my sister's classmate who happened to be my boardmate during my college days. I was saddened on his sudden passing. He was just 21 years old. He's too early to die. He had big dreams for his family. However, he cannot aim those dreams anymore. I pray for his journey towards heaven.

Then, I went to school to help in preparing the area for the Municipal Athletic Meet 2017. We are the hosts for this year's sports event in our town. It is a two- day event so we really we need to make our school ready. There will be delegates of ten other secondary schools in our municipality who will compete for slots to join the Sub-Unit Meet this month.

We became busy in cleaning our rooms that will serve as billeting area. We also collaborated on putting ornaments on the stage. On the other hand, I need to take care of my voice because I will serve as master of ceremony. Because of these, I was not able to create three posts.

By the way, I am happy to tell that my blog has reached more than 200 views. Building an audience is an arduous task. This little step will help me to withstand my travel going to success on my blogging career. Happy Sunday everyone. God bless us all.

Revised Penal Code Gives Higher Penalty to Fake News Makers

With the progress of information processing in the country is the alarming number of fake news circulating online and offline. Many do phising of websites particularly news organizations and fabricating false information using blogs. The government has been doing its best to mitigate the bad effects of hoaxes happening in the virtual world. Now, our statesmen have the solution as Republic Act No. 10951 is signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The said republic otherwise known as "An Act Adjusting the Amount or the Value of Property and Damage on Which a Penalty is Based, and Fines Imposed Under the Revised Penal Code" imposes higher amount of penalties on people who spread baseless and destructive news.

Persons who will be proven guilty on producing fake news should fine Php 40,000 to Php 200,000. Other crimes that have adjusted penalties are treason and swindling. This newly signed act will be effective fifteen days after it is published in at least two newspapers of general circulation.

Ber Months Approaching

This is now the eve of the longest holiday in our country--- Christmas.

People will become busy in checking their lists. Many will go to malls and tiangge to buy colorful ornaments that will really give #ChristmasFeels. We will be under the LSS of Jose Mari Chan's heartwarming Christmas songs. The longest hide and seek game also happens in this season as the godparents (ninong and ninang) will be invisible in the eyes of their "inaanak".

There are various events that usually take place during this period. But, the best scene that I like to see is families reunited and observe the commemoration of the birth of baby Jesus during "Simbang Gabi".

With Ber months approaching quickly, let us not forget the essence of the birth of our Savior. He came to save us and to bring peace so should we. We must celebrate the holiday not only focusing on luxurious gifts, bright lanterns, boisterous parties, and sales in the stores but also putting Jesus in the center of the celebration.

There are things to patch up in this world. To make Christmas more memorable and significant, try to be a blessing to other people. You may donate food, clothes, or any help to the needy. Organize a feeding program. Have parties in the orphanages or home for the aged. This is the perfect season to be happy with others who are hapless.

As you anticipate puto bumbong and ham, you will do your part to make the holiday purposeful.

Don't forget me in your list. I accept gifts. Cash is okay. Just kidding.

Happy First 100 Pageviews

For the past days, I have been agog on what will my blog looks like and how it could be interesting for the readers. Now, I am celebrating the first 100 pageviews of my site. It is a milestone for me. This serves as an inspiration to me to work hard in making my online home dynamic and meaty.

The upcoming next days will be favorable to me because I will have a long weekend to write several posts. I'm hoping that I can upload photos to start the photography page. I am sad on the poor Internet connection in my locality. I want to go beyond social media sites. I want to create things more than just uploading photos.

In the next posts, I will put there my blogging target and my plans in improving my writing. I really want to embark on my career as a writer. I have now the motivation to make my dreams come true. If I have the money, this blog will have its domain.

I promise that I will be just natural in writing. I want to showcase myself here. I am more than a netizen. I am a motivator. I'm praying in the next months, I will reach thousands of pageviews.

2017 KL Games Closes, What is Next for PH?

After three weeks of action- filled events in Kuala Lumpur Games, the biennial multisports event comes to an end. Aside from celebrating their 60th Independence Day, Malaysians have another reason to celebrate as they topped the medal tally with whooping 145 gold medals. They surpassed their 111 gold medals harvest in 2001 happened also in their country when they hosted the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. As expected, the closing ceremony went colorful with cultural performances as well as memorable.

On the other side of the coin, the Philippines suffered in this mini-Olympics in the region as the delegates were able to bring home 24 gold medals. It is far from the 50- gold medal target. Athletics delivered five gold medals that made us to join gold rush. However, there were also blank days for us that made our momentum stopped. Other sports that contributed gold are basketball, billiards, boxing and others. The newly- introduced sport, ice hockey was dominated by the Philippine team.

With this condition of our PH sports, what next for our country? We are going to host the 30th SEA Games. We know that conducting this big sport event needs a big budget. Can we shoulder the expenses? Aside from that, what are the things to be done to be able for us to go back on top and win the championship? The last time that we are in the pinnacle was in 2005 Manila Games. We were able to bag 113 gold medals. Since then, we were clinching few golds. Our sports officials should look for solutions to stop this predicament.

I am praying for the success of our country in the next SEA Games. We must believe in our athletes that they can get gold medals. We must also help our country in hosting the event. May God bless the Philippines. To all athletes and coaches, thank you for representing us. For the nation, you are all winners. Bring the gold in 2019.

Spelunking in the Mountain of Debts

It's 30th of the month. What does it mean? It's payday. After many hours of working tenaciously, salary is a great reward. While the others are planning on how to spend their money in a looooooooong weekend, I am struggling on how to survive the next month. I am not yet receiving my salary for three months. Well, it is but normal not to claim salary for a new senior high school teacher like me because there are still processes to be done. Patience is a virtue.

Because of my situation, I have no choice but to find persons whom I can borrow money. Thanks that I have a cousin and a co- teacher who are helping me to suffice my needs. Actually, I used to have my salary when I was teaching in junior high school. Because of my promotion, my salary stopped. I understand that sudden change, but I am anxious about my financial status.

I have loans from two banks that I need to pay. I am afraid of the growing interests or penalties they might give to me. Maybe, you will ask what happened to the money you loaned. Well, I used the money to help paying our family's debt. I also helped in helping my sister to finish her tertiary education. Because of the debts as well as our needs, my savings are gone. My ATM cards are hibernating in my spacious wallet.

What I can do for now is look at the sky and ask for a miracle to happen. My fellow teachers who are neophyte in the service also undergo the same fate of mine. We accept the reality. To lighten the situation, we just sing the lines of Aiza Seguerra's Pagdating ng Panahon. We compare salary with love that will arrive in the right place, in the right time.

What I learned with these situations are:
  1. I need to be strong with the test of time.
  2. I need to be enthusiastic in working. Rewards are given to dedicated people.
  3. I need to be wise in my financial aspects.
I just pray to God that all of my problems will be solved. For the meantime, I need to adjust just what the Filipino maxim: Kung maiksi ang kumot, matututong mamaluktot.

Cheer Up, PH Volleybelles!

Aside from basketball, many Filipinos are zealous on watching our Filipina volleyball players as they try to have podium finish in the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Games. After their impressive performance in the 19th Asian Volleyball Cup held in the country, the PH team, which is spearheaded of local superstars Alyssa Valdez and Jaja Santiago, will compete against powerhouse Thailand and Vietnam. The latter team lost to our players during the AVC Cup. The coach and his players know that Vietnam team are vengeful and the way towards gold is not a piece of cake.

The journey started last Thursday when they faced the host Malaysia. They swept the three sets, 25-18, 25- 11, 25-16 that gave a glimpse of hope to bag a medal. The winning streak of our team was stopped by Vietnam players by not giving any set last Friday. The scores were 26- 24, 25- 12, 25- 23.

There was still a chance to bring home a medal but they need to beat Thailand. As expected, the fight went difficult for the ladies that made them bowed down to the Thais who won three sets: 25- 21, 25- 17, 25- 17. This upset relegated our players to a bronze match.

Yesterday morning, our volleyball heroes fought Vietnam anew. Filipinas won the first set, 27- 25. However, Vietnamese dominated the three consecutive sets (22-25, 20- 25, 21- 25) that ended the goal of our players to land in the podium. The last time we entered the medal table of the said sport happened in 2005 Manila Games.

Despite the loss, the team improved the country's standing in the biennial multisport events from number five in the Singapore Games to number four.

Even though you were not able to bring home any medal, we are still proud of you. Reaching the SEA Games is an achievement. We join the team in good times and bad times as well. Don't be dispirited. There is till a room for improvement. Don't be affected with the people who are denigrating your sacrifices. For us, you are still our champions. You are the new sports heroes that inspire many girls to be part of the national team. Maybe in the 2019 SEA Games, the team will clinch a medal. God bless all of you!

The Heirs of the Heroes

Today, we are celebrating National Heroes' Day. This is our way of saying thank you (not for the long weekend) but for sacrificing their lives to free us from bondage. There are numbers of activities that are slated to commemorate this day for our great men and women. This is the perfect time to remember the heroism of Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Apolinario Mabini and the like. However, we remember who they are during this time. Sadly, majority are not familiar about the lives of these history makers. We are updated on the getaways and status of artists and online sensations we admire but we have minuet knowledge about our heroes. With this attitude, do we have the rights to be called their heirs.

Social Studies is one of my favorite subjects. My father has a great influence on me in terms of studying history which comprises the biggest part of the subject. I had the chance to know the sufferings and triumphs of Filipinos during the colonization era in our country. I can say that history allowed me to have time travel by perusing the records and documentations of the nation's rise towards independence.

But, some say that it is a boring subject. Some say it is a difficult one because of dates and names to be memorized. I can't blame them because the subject is taught in rote memorization before. Thanks that in K to 12 Education Program, the subject is taken with the application of higher order thinking skills. Hopefully, there will be a great number of Filipinos who will be appreciative and enliven the lessons they got from their history classes and not mere collectors of dates and names of people and places.

Education is the primary tool towards being called as the righteous heirs of our heroes' sacrifices. However, it should not stop in attending school. We are the future of our country. She is still ailing. She needs our actions going to the fate which is destined for her. Our heroes have lessons for us to learn to become a better nation. We should not forget these. Look around you. Are you happy with what your eyes perceive. Are you just to be listless or are you going to break the barriers and to prove to our forefathers that we are the trustees of the heritage they worked hard with their sweat and blood?

We should contribute things for our country. In simple ways we can create a better Philippines. We need to follow traffic rules regularly; abide in the implemented laws; and be honest in what we are doing. These are some simple sort of tasks that we can do. These may be ordinary activities but the effects are significant. By doing things wholeheartedly, we can be heroes that the nation is in dire need. Being heroic is not only defending our country using guns and swords but also making changes in our land.

We should be proud of who we are. We should be the people who will continue what our heroes started. We are the heirs of our heroes. We should carry the torch from the past to guide our ways towards mornings with golden rays, golden grains, and golden era.

Thoughts

I have many thoughts running in my mind and some are qualified to be exposed (I'm not bragging, though). It is very hard for me to find an outlet on how to disseminate what I call "precious" ideas. Thanks that blogging exists. Here on my blog, I have the chance to showcase what my mind process. What can you expect from me with this page?

I will write here things that makes me smile; makes me frown; makes me worried; makes me excited; makes me motivated; and makes me change. I want to be frank on what I think on several issues that affects me. I am reserved on dealing with other people face to face. In my online home, somehow I can be bold and confident to say what I want.

Here, you can find me weird. Call me crazy, but I don't care. Sometimes, it is okay to do and cerebrate weird things. I will show here my side which is humorous yet witty. I do not want people to call this blog as garbage. I will do my best to give content which many can relate that after reading my posts they will exclaim, "I am foolish like him."

There will hodgepodge of topics here. My world is chaotic so be ready to explore it. I accept opinions here and I will do my best to accept those comments (Please, write a comment). I hope that when you press the x button of the browser's tab, you learned something from me. Join me as I make myself more human.
